Next Monday is the first running of the Warrior Princess Trail Run. Chrissy Whitten, a very close friend of mine is hosting this trail race inat the Keystone Mountain Bike Trails to honor her daughter. Chrissy Whitten is one of the most energetic people you will ever meet. She's a woman who has faced more adversity than anyone I know, and through her faith in God, a "BIG" God, she has passed through trials that would have wiped me out. Along the way, her zest for life and her testimony to her faith in God has touched hundreds--maybe thousands. Michael and Chrissy's daughter went to heaven after blessing them with 103 days of life here on Earth. It is Chrissy's desire to have this trail race, the Warrior Princess Trail Run each year on her birthday, and friends, family, and trail runners (who are always friends) can celebrate with them by running 10.3 miles or 1.03 miles. I will consider it a great personal favor if as many of my friends who can, come run these awesome trails with us.
The race will be around half on mountain bike trails, and half on a seldom used paved road along the Arkansas River.
The trail portion has a few ups and downs, and has it's share of rocks in places, but is still runnable and easily walkable. It will be thoroughly marked with pink ribbons and all the intersections will be marked with yellow caution tape. The road section is an out-and-back and involves one hill. There will be an aid station midway through the trail portion, one at the point where the race goes from trail to road, and one at the turn-around on the road. You will have water and Gatorade and a few snacks every 2 1/2 miles +/-. The first 180 runners will get these amazing tech shirts and finishers will also receive some awesome custom medals.
