Most of my posts have a silly slant. This one does not. Someone went pink-happy on the trailz on the west side of Turkey Mountain around Pepsi Pond. TATUR, in cooperation with the Westside Y, marked a 5.5 mile trail on the west side which used most of the Turkey and TATURs 10K course. This was done with pink blazes, and we were very careful to NOT over-do it. It was important to us to have the blazes spaced out so that the beauty of the wilderness would not be blurred with man-made markings. There actually was an intersection or two that could use another blaze.
But sometime over the weekend, someone started over by the old Pepsi trucks and marked a loop with many many blazes and pink ribbons. Below are a few pics of this massacre.
I do not know if someone was marking a race course, or a route for a group hike. Painting small rocks like the ones above is not really much of a problem since they can be moved.
But painting large embedded rocks is unacceptable.
Really??? One rock marked. No, let's paint them both.
Don't forget that one!
Why? They made sure they painted ALL the roots.
And they didn't miss too many trees.
I'd like to know who did this. Not sure what I'll do if I find out. The Y and the Turkey Mountain group might have some idea of what to do with the guilty culprits. For the record, TZ is mad.
