Day 2 of 3
Day Two of Three involved a buncha trail marking. Fast runners need extra signage -- not because they LIKE to read them, but because they blow right by them. Besides the pink ribbons marking the Turkey and TATURs course, there will also be arrows, caution tape, and possibly some electric fencing.
Jason and Lisa came out and helped mark about 3 miles of trail. We split up, and I did not get any pics of them except one where Jason was coming up LipBuster, but it was taken with my iPhone and did not really turn out. But I like this pic.
Dana and I marked about 4 miles of trail ourselves. That leaves around 9 miles more to mark. We'll work on that tomorrow (Monday) but there may be a bit of a problem. Feet Fleet has a trail race on the east mountain on Monday, and will have there ribbons marking their course. If we wait til after their race is over, we should be able to mark ours, PROVIDED they do not PULL OUR RIBBONS while taking theirs down, assuming they are taking their course markings down. I would be very happy to pull theirs as we mark our course. Maybe I should call them.
Next Saturday, I could use a bunch of volunteers to finish up with the course markings. All of the course will be pre-marked, and a lot of it will only need caution tape put up at major intersections and turns. I will see that you are fed (probably pizza) and you can count your service to meet the requirements for getting into Western States (or any other ultra that has service requirements.)
More words and pix tomorrow nite.
