It is not too late to sign up for Tatur's 2014 Lake McMurtry Trail Races. Registration will begin at 6:30am at the race and you can sign up at RunnersWorld Tulsa as well!
Packet Pickup will begin on Friday at 10am -5:45pm at RunnersWorld Tulsa located at 3920 South Peoria Tulsa, OK 74105.
Online registration will end at 4pm on Thursday April 10, 2014. But you will still be able to sign up at RunnersWorld from 10am to 5:30pm on Friday and at the race beginning at 6:30am.
Yes, true to Tatur style, the 25K runners and the 50K trail runners will be forced to jump over the dreaded and feared Leap O' Doom. For the 12K runners the feisty ole race director known as Ken "Trail Zombie" Childress will have plenty of wonderful sights and gags planned to make the 12K runners scream !
We will have some great food, drinks and other delectables to feed both the hungry runners as will as those who come to cheer on the runners. Be sure to thank Tatur Cakes a.k.a Dana Childress for her always overflowing smorgasbord of great food at our events.
We also have some great tech shirts for all the entrants as well as some unique trophies for the age group winners. Susan "Melon" Westmoreland stenciled these fantastic and coveted trophies pictured below. We hope that all you speed demons enjoy them !
Our fearless leader has also created a really great trail series called the Oklahoma Dirt Trail Series. The season started with the Tatur Snake Run, but it is not too late to join up. Note About Timing
New to 2014 we will be using chips that will be attached to the back of your bibs. You can change shoes at will without worrying about removing your timing chips. No tight ankle straps to worry about and as long as you don't lose your race number, you will not need to worry about losing your timing chip.
However if you have your bib/chip on your shirt and decide to take your shirt or jacket off, YOU CANNOT crumple your bib number as this could damage the timing chip.
The Lake McMurtry Trail Race is proudly going into it's 16th year. The race was started in 1999 by Earl Blewett. Earl saw the beauty of Lake McMurtry with it's gorgeous scenery, soft, beginner friendly trail system, spectacular lake views and reputation for having some of the best trails in the state of Oklahoma for both running as well as mountain biking.
In 2009 Earl turned the race over to the Tatur organization and it's race director Ken Childress. Ken has done a fantastic job of keeping the quality, history and tradition of the Lake McMurtry Trail Race alive.
Race Info
50K (31.1 miles) $75- Start time is 8 A.M. (Early start available at 7 A.M.)
25K (15.5 miles) $60- Start time is 8:30 A.M.
12K (7.5 miles) - $40 - Start time is 9 A.M.
All races have a nine hour time limit.
